Lake Manatee April 18th 2010 Bass Tournament
Tuesday, April 20th, 2010Anna and I fished the 2nd to last tourney of the season with Mr. B’s tournament trail on Lake Manatee. We started on the north side of the lake near the state park and Anna caught one small keeper and one short. We ventured out to the 10-15 foot range where we had caught larger ones in the past but no baitfish were seen on the depthfinder nor did we get any bites on our Carolina rigs.
We ventured down to the buoys near the dam and I landed a small keeper on a DT14 rapala on a 7′ hump near the river channel. I tossed a marker out as soon as the fish was in the boat. I cranked for about another 10 minutes with no success so I elected to fish the Carolina rig. The bite was on but no large fish with only a 3 pounder to cap our limit. At weigh in it took 15 pounds plus to win, a couple of 13 pound weigh ins, a 11 pound and a few others knocked us down to 6th or 7th in the tournament results.
I think we still are in either 3rd or 4th for the year but it’s going to take a heavy stringer at Jigg’s and a small stringer for those in front of us to even have a chance to get the Anglers of the Year award. Jeff Columbus leads the pack, Jamie S in 2nd and either us or one other team in 3rd.
Until next tourney, Tight Lines
